Raina T.R. Froste Debuts “Drakenheart,” a New YA Science-Fiction Fantasy
Houston, Texas – October 26, 2026 – Young-adult author Raina T.R. Froste has announced the release of her novel, Drakenheart, a science-fiction fantasy that launches a new saga of draken-shifters, alien heritage, ancient conflict, and forbidden love.
Drakenheart takes us into the story of Lily Charlson, a normal teenager who is about to discover just how much her life is about to change when she turns seventeen years old. Soon she realizes that she was born on another planet and was sent across the stars as a newborn in order to be saved from the forces hunting her.
Centuries earlier, the distant realm of Lecar falls. Its ruler is overthrown and turned to crystal, and generations of conflict leave the Curatio and Militis divided. Much later, a forbidden love across those boundaries produces Iyrdia, a child carrying both bloodlines whose very existence is considered a threat. To save her, she is sent away from Lecaris as a newborn, carrying only a draken heart amulet tucked into her blanket.
Almost seventeen years later, that child has grown up on Earth as Lily Charlson, a high school soccer player in small-town South Carolina who has always felt somehow different. Then a mysterious new student named Jaxon Winters walks into her classroom.
Jaxon is really Draykar, a newly inducted member of the Militis Imperial Guard sent across the stars to find Lily and, if her magyk has manifested, eliminate her. But from the very first moment he sees her, his draken inexplicably reacts to her, sparking a connection that will later reveal to him that Lily is his maisha, his lifebond, his second half.
With Lily’s draken legacy coming to the surface and magyk manifesting in strange ways, she finds herself caught up in a past that she never thought would be part of hers. And as the hunters close in, Lily finds herself having to discover who and what she is.
